Here are what families are saying about Mountain Vista Homestead Learning

Dadgari Family

Before MVH, our child had said he didn’t like learning and never wanted to go to school. Since joining, we’ve seen remarkable growth — not just academically, but in confidence and self-expression. He’s more engaged, more independent, and genuinely excited about learning. In fact, he often doesn’t even realize he’s learning because he’s so interested! Then suddenly he’s pointing out and naming different types of clouds like cirrus and stratus, or explaining the entire butterfly life cycle.

What makes MVH so unique is its deeply personalized approach and strong sense of community. Our child feels safe, known, and truly cared for — not just as a student, but as a learner, a questioner, a little detective, and even on the days he just wants to run around and explore the animals on the homestead. He is supported as a whole person. We wholeheartedly recommend it to any family seeking a nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring environment.

I want to add that my professional opinion as well:

As a mental health therapist who focuses on attachment in adults, I often find myself wishing that microschool models like Mountain Vista Homestead were more widely understood and embraced as part of the solution to what we’re seeing in children today. Research shows that many children spend roughly 6-7 hours a day in school, often more waking time than they spend with their families during the week. In those environments, the quality of relational connection matters deeply.

It’s increasingly common to see children who feel frustrated, disengaged, or disconnected - both from the learning process and from the adults guiding them. Large classroom settings can unintentionally prioritize classroom management and standardized pacing over responsive, relationship-based learning. In those conditions, a child’s natural curiosity and emergent learning can be overshadowed by busy work or disrupted by the behavioral needs of the group.

What stands out in a setting like Mountain Vista Homestead is the emphasis on emotional safety, attunement, and truly knowing each child without excluding the parent. When children feel secure and supported, they are far more able to engage, regulate, and grow—both academically and socially. From a clinical perspective, environments that foster consistent, meaningful adult-child connections can play a powerful role in supporting healthy attachment patterns.

Models like this don’t just support learning - they support the whole child in a way that has lasting impact. We need more adults who were allowed to have a childhood.

We absolutely love Mountain Vista Homestead Academy. It’s honestly the highlight of my boys’ week, every week.

Mrs. Carolina is so kind, gentle, and genuinely loving with the kids. I really appreciate the way she teaches them to care for the earth and gives them hands-on experiences. I love that they get to experience helping with the animals and working on projects that build up the homestead while also have time set aside to work on their core work. It’s such a meaningful way for them to learn.

One of my boys’ favorite parts is her fresh, home-cooked lunch. They seriously think she’s the best cook ever! She pushes them to be adventurous eaters and I’ve seen that carry into other space of our life.

Mrs. Carolina is incredibly thoughtful in both her lessons and what she chooses to teach. She helps the kids understand things in a deeper way, beyond what they would get from a textbook. I also really value that my kids get to learn alongside others while being outside and connected to nature.

We’ve seen my boys gain more confidence and ownership outside of school because of what they are learning at Mountain Vista.

Being a part of Mountain Vista Homestead Academy has been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our family. We’re already looking forward to next year.

Jacob Family

Mountain Vista Homestead Microschool offers a thoughtful and deeply intentional approach to education. Under Ms. Carolina’s guidance, students experience a balance of academic growth, personal development, and meaningful, real-life applicable learning. It’s clear she had done this for some time and knows what she’s doing!

What stands out most to our family is the emphasis on stewardship—teaching children to care for the earth and for living things with respect and responsibility. These are values we’ve always prioritized as a family, and it has been incredibly rewarding to see them reinforced so beautifully and consistently in this environment. They love the animals they get to interact with and the farm chores that they get to participate in.

Our children have flourished here, growing in confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. The impact reaches far beyond academics, shaping who they are becoming as individuals.

We are truly grateful for the care, vision, and heart Ms. Carolina has created behind this community.

I have nothing but fantastic things to say about Mountain Vista! Our daughter has absolutely thrived in Miss Carolina’s program.

Her confidence has grown, she has learned so many new skills, and it is always her favorite part of the week. I love the hands-on, wonder-filled learning experiences, the emphasis on love, respect, and care for the earth, and the culture of faith, respect, and kindness that Miss Carolina cultivates.

It is an absolutely amazing program - I’m so grateful that we found it! 100% recommend.
