Our Homestead Story
From day one, our family has been "all in" on homeschooling, and along the way, we've unearthed a passion for gardening, permaculture landscaping, growing our own food, and crafting our own products—all together.
While there's still plenty to learn and skills to master, we've developed a deep love for cultivation and hard work—and now, we’re ready to share what we’ve discovered!
In 2022, we made a bold move: we sold everything to snag a run-down, abandoned 2-acre property. The house was falling apart, and the land was barren. But it had potential! So, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work! Little by little, with faith and permaculture know-how, we’ve transformed this place into something incredible! This is our little piece of heaven on earth—and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Welcome, I'm glad you're here! I'm Carol, a passionate earth-lover, gardener, and homeschool mom for over 20 years. I love deep education, blend it with kids and families, caring for animals, and beautifying the land, and I'm in heaven! The very best of life is when all those creations are in harmony together. I'm excited to share in all the fun and learning that our small homestead has to offer!

I'm Hannah Allen, welcome! Last year I got to travel to Brazil with my family and check off a bucket list item! I got to taste a fresh cacao pod! I love good, fresh, REAL food, and how it makes me feel. I want to teach about earth stewardship, healthy eating, and healthy living to as many kids as I can!

Kepa Allen
Hey, I'm Kepa Allen. I've helped my family from day one transform our homestead to what it is today. We've all worked super hard and it's been a big learning journey for me. The lessons I've learned in caring for our animals and making our land healthier, have helped me be a become a confident leader in all the areas of my life. I'm so happy to pass this mindset to other kids I come in contact with.

I'm Eve Allen! I help my family care for our land and animals. It makes me happy to see things grow. I love to eat what we plant and harvest. I appreciate every bite, and I think it tastes better! Come learn and play with us on our homestead!

Rocco
German Shepherd Livestock Guardian
Rocco is our 8 year old male GSD who came to our family the year we moved in. He's a lover and a gentle giant, always ready for a head scratch and belly rub. He loves to be brushed and explore deer scent trails. He's dispatched several racoons that have attempted to kill our chickens. He's a top protector!
Kiba
German Shepherd Livestock Guardian
Kiba is our 4 year old female GSD. She's a firecracker and is OBSESSED with pinecones! She'll play fetch with pinecones all day long if she can! She is assertive and takes her role as animal chicken protector VERY seriously. She loves to jump on the tramp with her kid friends, but she doesn't like to get wet.
Polly & Bumble
Best of pal ducks
Polly Pocket and Bumble are always together. The love a good rainstorm and will make due with our bitty pond and getting splashed with the hose. Bumble has a lame foot and it takes her a while to get about, but Polly waits up, like good friends do. Polly is a wonderful mother in training and will sit on her (unfertilized) eggs for long stretches of time, while Bumble waits for her. The teach us so much.

Orange Tabby Mouser Cats
We found these two teeny tiny little guys stuck between two rocks in our window well. They were abandoned by their mother and in bad shape. We fed them with a bottle around the clock and they survived! These are our best mouser cats and have dispatched many voles that eat our veggies! We share custody of them with our amazing next door neighbors to the South.

Over 8 different breeds of chickens
Honey is our Buff Orpington who claims the top of the pecking order. We've had many varieties from Plymouth Rock, to Americauna, to Black Australorp, Eater Egger, Olive Egger, Cream Legbar and various others. We have a small flock of 13 right now, but they keep us well fed on plenty of eggs!

New Zealand Meat Rabbits
We have had many rabbits over the years, some have been strictly pets, while others have been raised for organic lean meat for our family. They have all been a true blessing for us and caring for them has brought us great joy!

Coturnix Quail
We have enjoyed raising quail through the years for both their deliciously creamy and rich eggs and succulent brown meat. Kiba has been a great guardian and shepherd for the. They have escaped their enclosures at times and she has rounded them up with a "soft mouth" and returned them to me. We have processed most of our flock this year, but have a male and female for next years breeding.
Queen Athena
Honey Bees
We have kept bees for years, and will continue to do so as long as we are able. Even the work can be a challenge do to the pernicious Varoa Mite and Colony Collapse Syndrome, honey bees are essential for the health and well being of our homestead. We have loved using the honey, wax, and propolis in organic homemade products that have been a huge blessing to us!
Krishna
Royal Indian Peacock
In series of unfortunate events, Krishna passed away this year. He was the crowning glory of our homestead and loved to show off his glorious plumage. We miss him every single day. Rest in heavenly peace beautiful boy.

Our Hedgie family was growing, and they weren't very friendly, so we had to say goodbye.
Puka
Bearded Dragon
Puka lived a long and fruitful life, 18 years old! He was our "skidaddler" and loved riding skateboards and running at full speeds through the house and yard. He was a lover of crickets and mealworms, cilantro and cucumbers. He is dearly missed.
Pam
The big White Duck
Pam was a sweetheart. She lived a happy life. She loved to be snuggled and held. We will miss her.
